Haidee-Jo Summers is a professional artist currently living in rural Lincolnshire with her husband, two children, one cat and seven chickens. She paints in various media what she describes as, 'intimate landscapes' or glimpses of domestic life which often feature people, animals, gardens and still life subjects.
She passed a foundation course in art and design at York College of Art and Technology followed by a Graphic Design degree at De Montfort University, Leicester, specialising in illustration. After graduating she held a variety of teaching posts including life drawing classes at De Montfort University. She has had several solo exhibitions in Nottingham, Leicester and Derbyshire as well as taking part in many group exhibitions. In 1997 and 1998 Haidee-Jo won the Winsor and Newton Young Artists Award at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI). After an absence of seven years (the busiest childcare years!) she has again exhibited with the ROI at the Mall Galleries in 2005 and 2006. She is a member of Lincolnshire Artists Society and a Fellow of Nottingham Society of Artists. Her paintings and written articles have been published in the Artists and Illustrators magazine and The Encyclopaedia of Watercolour Techniques (published 2004). |
