Avril Morris studied sculpture and ceramics at Leeds College of Art.

After gaining the Art Teacher’s Certificate from Leeds University, she taught in various schools in Hull and Grimsby and exhibited ceramic sculpture in many galleries from 1970 onwards.

She began painting in 1987 when she and her husband closed their pottery workshop and moved to Louth.

She now works in acrylic, watercolour and pastel in a variety of subject matter.

Work has been exhibited at the following venues:

American Watercolour Society Exhibition (Awarded the Walser S. Greathouse Medal and included in the travelling show)

Lincolnshire Artists, Society, Usher Gallery, Lincoln. (Yearly to date). (Awarded the Lincoln Hospitals Purchase Prize 1998 and Nicholson &Co. Prize 1996).

Holmfirth Artweek Exhibition (Yearly to date). Featured Artist 2005 (Awarded the Graham Prize 1991).

Bircham Contemporary Art, Holt, Zillah Bell Gallery, Thirsk, Booth House Gallery, Holmfirth, Burford Gallery. Dexterity, Ambleside. Lincoln Fine Art, Blakesley Gallery, Rufford Park, Pastel Society, Mall Gallerie etc..

Many of her paintings have been published by Dolphin Fine Art, Poole as greeting cards.
